Vedkot- The number of Nepali citizens going to India to look for work has increased with the completion of the state assembly and representative elections. In the last few days, the number of people going to India through Gaddachouki on the western border has increased.
Police Deputy Inspector Bahadur Dhami of Gaddachouki Police Office said that around 400 people are going to India through Gaddachouki crossing every day. "After the election, now the number of people going to India is more, the number of people coming is less", he said, "4/5 hundred Nepali citizens are going to India every day."
Nepali citizens who came to vote in the election have started going to India again for work. Nageshra Tamata of Achham said, "They called me from the village to vote, they also voted, there is no employment in the country", "I have to go to India to earn a living." Hark Bahadur Bohra of Achham says that people's representatives elected by voting in the coming elections in five years should remove the compulsion to go abroad by creating jobs in the country.
"They came to vote on a holiday for the election, they used their right to vote", he said, "we went to vote during the election celebration, but no one sees our suffering, even the new people's representative should not show the same behavior." Mangal Saud of Bajura said that he had to go to India in search of work due to lack of job creation in the country. "Wage work is not available in the country, fertilizers and seeds are not available for agriculture", he said.
According to Santosh Pant of Baitadi, although it was expected that after the constitution, the compulsion to get jobs in the country and go abroad would be removed, it has not been fulfilled. "After the constitution, there was an expectation to get jobs in the country and the country would develop", he said, "but the improvement did not happen as expected by the people, they still have to go abroad for work." Although road infrastructure development, education and health are being gradually developed, there is a situation where the youth cannot find employment in the country.
"Until now, we have not got anything by voting, we have always been cheated", said Durga Bohra of Bajhang, "The new representative should remove the compulsion to go to India for work, we lost our lives abroad, our children should not have to suffer this problem." Nepali citizens from Far West, Karnali and other places have gone to different places in India in search of work.
If the government wants to, it can easily identify the real landless squatters. However, by not doing so, Solodolo is doing injustice to real squatters by branding everyone as a fake squatter.
