"The new iPhone 14 features the latest technologies and significant security capabilities. We are excited to manufacture iPhone 14 in India," Apple said in a statement.

Taiwan-based Foxconn manufactures most of Apple's phones. The company had been making handsets of older versions of the iPhone since 2017 in Tamil Nadu, South India.

But now Apple is trying to make its new product iPhone 14 in India.

Is the iPhone cheaper now?

Coming to India, Apple also aims to increase its market. Till last year, the iPhone's market share in India was only 4 percent.

The American company has to compete with cheaper smartphones. Cheap phones made in China and South Korea are very popular in the Indian mobile market.

Despite being manufactured in India, there will be no difference in the price of the iPhone. It seems that the price of the iPhone will not decrease due to high import duties and other taxes on the components of the iPhone.

Even though Indian users will now see 'Made in India' on the iPhone, they will have to pay a huge amount to buy the iPhone.

What benefits to India?

The announcement to increase iPhone production in India has been taken as an achievement by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government.

Eight years ago, the Modi government launched the "Make in India" campaign. It was aimed to increase production in India and exports from India.

Apple made the announcement to relocate its factories amid fears that supply from China could be affected by rising tensions between the US and China over Taiwan and trade.

What's in the new iPhone?

Apple has launched its new phone in two sizes. They are iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.

A new headset can be used to make calls requesting emergency assistance via satellite. The phone shows the position of satellites in the sky and determines how best to establish contact with them.

The new iPhone also has a 12-megapixel camera. It can also capture images of fast moving objects.

Apple claims that the ability to take pictures in low light has increased by 49 percent.

For the first time ever, the front camera has autofocus that can take better selfies.

A feature called Dynamic Island is said to be able to change its size depending on what kind of notification comes through.

When not in use, the phone's screen dims and the refresh rate of applications slows down. The phone set is available in dark purple, black, silver and gold colors.
