The District Level Border Security Coordination Committee meeting decided to close the border 72 hours ago. Chief District Officer of Dhanusha Surendra Paudel informed that the decision was taken at the meeting held on Saturday. According to him, security officials from both countries participated in the meeting. They have had extensive discussions on the issues of crime, illegal arms, smuggling, drug trafficking and other illegal transactions across the borders of both countries.
During the gathering, the agents of the two nations traded classified data connected with the control of unlawful exchanges. Subsequent to trading data, the two nations have consented to control such exercises by figuring out techniques. There was a conversation on issues like planning between the two nations to control wrongdoing at the boundary, trading data previously and during a calamity, controlling income spillage and checking at the wellbeing work area while traversing the line.
The meeting was attended by Chief District Officer of Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sirha and Saptari, Chief of Police, Chief of Armed Police, representative of Customs Office from Nepal and Magistrate of Madhwani District and representative of Customs Office from India. Coordination committee meetings are held every three months.
